Mourning

We had to put my pretty kitty Nedee down Monday.  She was fine when I went to feed her at 6:30 Sunday night, but when Terry put her to bed at 10:30, something was wrong.  She didn't seem to be in pain, but was lame.  The vet said that there was a blood clot that lodged in the main artery that separates and goes down each hind leg.  This morning she was paralyzed in both legs and had to scoot.  Apparently she's always had a heart problem.

It all happened so fast.  I'm so happy I wasn't working this week.  I was a mess at the vets.  I didn't want to be present at the end, and I didn't want to see her one last time.  I had to go sit in the car and have Terry handle everything.  I helped him dig the hole to bury her.  She's in the backyard that she hardly ever left, right under the shed roof where she would hang-out for hours.

I'm surprised at how hard this has been.  I cried a lot on Monday.  Then when I pulled myself together and let Ty know on Tuesday, I cried again.  As I'm writing this, I'm crying again.  I'm the only one that really appreciated Nedee.  I miss her, but Ty said she's in Kitty Heaven with a bowl overflowing with Temptation kitty treats.  That makes me happy.

Dining Ambiance

Hudson is still trying to win Nedee over.  Today he drew a picture for her.  It's sitting right by her dish so that she can enjoy it each time she eats.  It was a nice gesture, but his loud voice and chasing around outweigh the gifts he's been offering.  She's not warming up to him yet.

What a Nice Surprise

One of my students gave me a sweet and yummy fruit selection in a green plastic basket which my grandson has recycled into a home for drowned worms.  He added leaves, dirt, and a lot of water.  Then he gave it to my cat Nedee as a present.  He left it by her food dish as a surprise.  I don't know if she was surprised, but I'm pretty sure she wasn't won over by the gesture.

I think this may be the first of a whole summer of blog entries about crazy kids.

Devoted to Terry

It's no secret that Terry does not like Nedee.  She's hairy, dirty, fat, and scratches.  I realize that she has some issues stemming back to being abandoned when she was only a few months old.  She didn't learn some of the cat basics, and she does have a weight problem, but I really love her.  I'm so glad that she has us to take care of her.  She's so pretty, and quiet, and easy to live with.  It's just funny that she is totally devoted to Terry.  He doesn't feed her, he talks mean to her, and he chases her out every time she scratches, but there's something about him that she likes.  A good part of the day she sits on a cushion that allows her to look out the window, but as soon as Terry comes in and sits on the couch, she moves and lays down on the floor right by him.  They both stretch out together.  She never comes to lay down by me, just him, every time.
